ZEAL Pet Food: Canadian air-dried and New Zealand wet recipes
ZEAL Pet Food offers meat-forward foods for dogs and cats, including gently air-dried recipes made in Canada and wet-food recipes produced in New Zealand. The brand emphasizes named meats and organs, with smaller portions of plant ingredients and vitamins and minerals to create formulated diets. For Blue Sky Luxury Living, the focus is on comparing the actual recipes, their ingredients, and the practical differences between shelf-stable air-dried and moisture-rich wet foods.
Canadian air-dried dog food
The air-dried dog-food collection includes Beef, Chicken, Turkey, and Salmon & Duck. ZEAL describes its principal dog recipes as containing 96% meat and organs, including ingredients such as liver, heart and tripe. Its beef recipe additionally lists small amounts of pumpkin, bamboo fiber, green-lipped mussel, kelp, fruit and vegetable ingredients, added minerals and mixed tocopherols. The exact recipe differs by flavor and can change, so refer to current package details.
Air-dried food is shelf-stable and can be served as a meal or, where appropriate, a topper. It is more concentrated than moisture-rich canned food; measure portions according to calories and the feeding guide, rather than assuming the same scoop size as ordinary kibble.
Air-dried cat food
ZEAL also offers air-dried cat food in Chicken and Salmon & Turkey. Its current recipe descriptions feature 96% meat and organ ingredients, with added taurine, minerals, prebiotic-type plant fibers and selected fruit and vegetable components. Cats have specific nutritional needs, so a dog-food formula should never replace a nutritionally appropriate cat diet.
The Salmon & Turkey recipe contains turkey organs, salmon and krill meal, among other ingredients. The Chicken cat recipe contains chicken and organ meats together with krill meal and green-lipped mussel. These are not single-protein exclusion diets and may be unsuitable for cats with certain seafood or poultry allergies.
New Zealand wet food for dogs and cats
ZEAL’s canned wet-food collection includes dog recipes such as Beef, Chicken and Lamb, and cat recipes such as Chicken & Salmon and other meat options. Wet-food recipes typically use meat, water, organs, animal or fish ingredients, and formulated vitamin and mineral additions. The wetter texture can appeal to pets that prefer soft food, while offering a different way to include water with meals.
Wet food and air-dried food should be compared by calorie density and feeding suitability, not simply by percentages of protein on the front of the package. Select the correct dog or cat recipe and check the nutritional adequacy statement on the individual product.
Ingredients and our Yellow clean standard
Blue Sky classifies ZEAL Yellow — Cleaner Step Up. Meat-first formulas, identifiable organ meats, clear ingredient lists and manufacturer-reported sourcing and safety testing are useful points of comparison. Some fruit and vegetable ingredients are identified as organic, but the complete diets have not been established as certified organic. The recipes also contain added minerals, vitamins and ingredients such as mixed tocopherols or natural flavor, depending on the formulation.
We do not assume that air-drying automatically makes a product nutritionally superior to every conventional complete diet, or that a brand’s sustainability claims have been independently verified throughout its supply chain. Yellow is an editorial catalog classification, not a veterinary recommendation, organic certification or independent food-safety guarantee.
Nutrition, AAFCO and feeding guidance
ZEAL states that its complete dog and cat diets meet relevant AAFCO nutritional guidelines and markets them for all life stages. AAFCO does not individually approve or certify pet food brands; check the nutritional adequacy statement for the exact formula and life stage, especially for growing large-breed dogs or young kittens. High-meat recipes are not automatically ideal for every pet. Those with kidney disease, digestive conditions, food allergies or other medical needs should follow their veterinarian’s feeding recommendations.
For most healthy pets, gradually transition to a new diet over approximately seven to ten days while monitoring appetite, stool quality and body condition. Follow the current feeding calculator and package instructions. Air-dried foods are calorie-dense, so portion sizes can be smaller than owners expect.
Storage and food safety
Reseal air-dried food and keep it in a cool, dry place according to the packaging. ZEAL’s FAQ recommends using opened air-dried food within eight weeks. Opened canned foods should be refrigerated promptly, with the company’s guidance recommending use within three to four days. Do not feed food from leaking, swollen, damaged or compromised packaging. Wash feeding utensils and handle pet food hygienically.
Important shipping limitation for Hawaii and Alaska
ZEAL’s official U.S. store currently ships only to the 48 contiguous states. It excludes Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes and APO/FPO addresses. For eligible destinations, standard shipping is free above $50 and the listed flat rate is $6.90 for smaller orders, subject to change. The published handling estimate is approximately two business days, followed by three to five business days in transit. Shoppers outside the service area should not expect checkout delivery to be available.
Returns and subscriptions
ZEAL accepts eligible returns of unopened, unused products in original packaging when requested within 30 days of delivery. Customers must contact the retailer for prior authorization; direct exchanges are not offered. Return postage is usually the buyer’s responsibility unless ZEAL made an error. Report a damaged, defective or incorrect shipment within seven days with relevant photos and order details. Products marked Final Sale have different restrictions.
The store also offers recurring delivery plans. Customers can pause, skip or cancel future orders without a cancellation fee before the next order is processed. Canceling a subscription does not automatically cancel a shipment already processed, and it does not generate an automatic refund. Check billing frequency and the current terms before subscribing.
