Experience the natural beauty and culture of Mexico with Xcaret
Grupo Xcaret brings together some of the Riviera Maya’s most memorable attractions. Its parks combine tropical landscapes, underground rivers, snorkeling, jungle adventures, Mexican culture and evening entertainment. For travelers planning a stay in Cancun, Playa del Carmen or the Riviera Maya, these experiences offer opportunities to explore beyond the resort.
The portfolio includes Xcaret Park, Xel-Ha, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xenses and Xoxi Cancun, along with archaeological tours and other regional adventures. Each experience has different admissions, inclusions and physical requirements, so choosing the right park matters.
Xcaret Park: underground rivers and Mexican culture
Xcaret Park combines natural attractions with performances celebrating Mexico’s cultural heritage. Visitors can explore underground rivers, tropical trails, marine-life exhibits, an aviary, a butterfly pavilion and scenic coastal areas.
One of the best-known attractions is the series of underground rivers that pass through limestone formations and lush tropical scenery. Life jackets are provided for the river experience, and visitors can select routes according to park guidance.
The day concludes with Xcaret Mexico Espectacular, an elaborate cultural performance featuring regional dances, music and representations of Mexican history. The show features hundreds of performers and is included with regular Xcaret admission.
Xcaret Plus: extra comfort and a buffet meal
Xcaret offers several admission options. Standard admission includes the principal natural and cultural attractions, while Xcaret Plus adds conveniences such as dedicated changing facilities, lockers and a buffet lunch.
The Plus ticket includes one buffet meal at a participating restaurant with nonalcoholic beverages during the meal and one beer per adult under the current package description.
Hotel transportation is not automatically included with either admission. It may be purchased separately or included in a tour configuration. Always compare the exact ticket inclusions before reserving.
Xel-Ha: all-inclusive snorkeling and natural waterways
Xel-Ha is a natural water park near Tulum, centered around an inlet where freshwater from underground rivers meets the Caribbean Sea.
Its all-inclusive admission features snorkeling equipment, river floating, swimming areas, jungle trails, bicycle paths and the Scenic Lighthouse with panoramic views and waterslides.
Food and beverages are included under the all-inclusive admission. Some specialized marine activities and optional experiences cost extra.
Xel-Ha is particularly appealing to travelers who enjoy spending much of the day around the water, although comfort in the water and adherence to activity safety instructions remain important.
Xplor: zip-lines, caves and jungle adventure
Xplor focuses on active adventure in a tropical landscape. Its experiences include extensive zip-line circuits, amphibious vehicle routes through jungle and caves, underground rafting, swimming and the Toboganxote waterslide.
The park’s regular daytime admission includes an adventure buffet, snacks, nonalcoholic drinks, lockers and access to its principal activities.
Activities have minimum-age, height, weight and equipment restrictions. Some experiences are unsuitable for visitors with particular medical conditions, recent surgery or pregnancy. Check the current participation rules before purchasing.
Xplor Fuego offers a related adventure experience in a nighttime atmosphere, with different operating hours and activity configurations.
Xenses: unusual experiences and playful illusions
Xenses is a half-day park near Playa del Carmen designed around sensory challenges and optical illusions. Its pathways include unusual architectural spaces, water attractions and opportunities for creative photographs.
The attraction is intended for travelers looking for something different from a conventional beach or water park. Some activities involve darkness, heights, enclosed spaces or disorienting visual effects.
Review the current age restrictions, physical requirements and safety recommendations before booking. Food is not generally included with standard Xenses admission.
Xoxi Cancun: an evening of Mexican entertainment
Xoxi Cancun offers a festive evening inspired by Mexican traditions, regional music and food. Its colorful floating-party setting creates a social atmosphere for visitors interested in an entertaining night out.
Inclusions depend on the specific evening package and may involve dinner, musical entertainment and beverages. Families and groups should check current age policies and admission details before choosing an experience.
Choosing the right Xcaret experience
For nature and culture: Xcaret Park provides a mix of river exploration, wildlife exhibits and major cultural performances.
For snorkeling and water activities: Xel-Ha concentrates on its natural inlet and all-inclusive aquatic experiences.
For adventure: Xplor and Xplor Fuego provide more physically demanding activities, including zip-lines and cave exploration.
For a shorter and unusual experience: Xenses focuses on sensory attractions and imaginative settings.
For an evening celebration: Xoxi Cancun offers music, dining and a festive atmosphere.
Multi-park packages can be available, but their inclusions, dates and cancellation conditions may differ from individual admissions.
Responsible travel and our Yellow classification
Grupo Xcaret emphasizes nature, cultural attractions and environmental initiatives in its tourism operations. These features can make its parks interesting to travelers who value time outdoors and cultural experiences.
However, describing an attraction as eco-oriented does not independently establish carbon neutrality, negligible environmental impact or a universally sustainable operation.
Blue Sky assigns the listing Yellow — Cleaner Step Up for catalog consistency. This is an experience rather than a physical product, so our usual ingredient and material standards do not directly apply. The Yellow designation is not an environmental certification.
What to know before booking
Grupo Xcaret’s parks are located across the Cancun and Riviera Maya region, and travel times depend on your resort and the selected attraction.
Most standard park admissions do not include hotel transportation automatically. Confirm whether you are purchasing admission only, admission with transportation or a complete tour package.
Visitors should check passport and identification requirements, minimum ages, accessibility provisions, physical activity restrictions, opening dates and current inclusions.
Some parks permit only specific sunscreen formulations, including products containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Confirm the individual park’s rules before visiting.
For water activities, bring suitable swimwear and follow instructions concerning flotation equipment, water shoes and personal belongings.
Cancellation and date-change policies
Under Grupo Xcaret’s general policy, qualifying individual reservations canceled more than two days before the scheduled visit incur a 10% administrative charge.
Cancellations made from two days to the visit date, as well as no-shows, are generally nonrefundable. Multi-park packages, Xperience Passports and optional activities may have stricter nonrefundable terms.
Eligible tickets may permit a change of visit date within one year of purchase, subject to the current rules and potential price adjustments. Changes are not normally permitted on the day of the visit.
Weather-related changes and exceptional circumstances are subject to the operator’s written policies. Always review the exact terms attached to your selected admission before completing payment.
