Description
Umbrian Gold brings small-batch olive oil from the hills of Umbria, Italy to home cooks in the United States. Founded by brothers Marc Murphy and Paul Murphy, the brand works with family-farmed olives, including fruit from its own family land, to produce organic extra virgin olive oil rooted in the region’s everyday food culture.
Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil From Umbria
Umbrian Gold describes its olive oil as extra virgin, cold extracted and organically grown. Rather than sourcing anonymous bulk oil, the brothers work with olives from families they know, including their own, and stay closely involved with the harvest.

Martani 2025
The current Martani 2025 vintage blends Moraiolo, Frantoio and Leccino, three traditional Umbrian olive varieties. Moraiolo is the primary varietal in the current blend, and Umbrian Gold says this year’s Moraiolo was sourced entirely from its own farm.
The current tasting profile includes freshly cut grass, almond and artichoke, followed by a smooth body and a gentle peppery warmth that builds on the finish.
From Family Groves
Umbrian Gold sources olives from small family groves rather than large industrial farms. Some contributing groves contain only a few dozen trees, while even the larger farms in the network remain small by commercial standards.
The annual harvest generally takes place from mid-October through mid-November. Families use nets and mechanical or battery-powered tools to gather the olives from the steep Umbrian hillsides.
Chef Marc Murphy and Paul Murphy
Umbrian Gold was founded by brothers Marc and Paul Murphy. Paul lives in Umbria with his family, while chef Marc Murphy has longstanding ties to the region and uses Umbrian olive oil extensively in his cooking and private-event kitchen in New York.
Olio Nuovo Character
The earliest oil produced during harvest is often called olio nuovo, or “new oil.” Freshly pressed early-season oil tends to have a more pronounced bitterness and peppery character. Umbrian Gold says the current vintage includes oil from several different pressings, allowing the sharper early oil to contribute freshness while later pressings help create balance.
500 ml Bottle
The 500 ml Martani 2025 bottle is the standard format for everyday home use. Its balanced profile makes it suitable for both cooking and finishing, including salads, vegetables, pasta, bread and simple dishes where the flavor of the oil remains noticeable.
3-Liter Chef’s Tin
Umbrian Gold also offers its extra virgin olive oil in a 3-liter tin intended for households, entertainers and professional kitchens that use olive oil frequently. The larger format is equivalent to six 500 ml bottles and can be especially practical for regular cooking, roasting, grilling and dressings.
Cooking With Umbrian Gold
The brand recommends the oil for applications ranging from bruschetta and salad dressing to grilled vegetables, pasta and dipping. Its combination of grassy, nutty and peppery notes also makes it well suited to finishing foods shortly before serving.
Freshness Matters
Olive oil is not a product that improves indefinitely with age. Umbrian Gold emphasizes using each vintage while it is fresh. Store the oil tightly closed in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight, heat and prolonged exposure to air.
Why Blue Sky Classifies Umbrian Gold as Green
Umbrian Gold’s current collection is centered entirely around extra virgin olive oil produced from organically grown olives. The brand itself describes its oil as organic and “bio,” and its affiliate program likewise identifies the olives as organically grown and family farmed. Because the product collection is simple, food-based and predominantly organic, Blue Sky Luxury Living classifies Umbrian Gold as a Cleaner Choice.
A Seasonal Product
Olive oil varies naturally from one harvest to the next. Olive varieties, weather, harvest timing and pressing conditions can all affect the flavor and intensity of a vintage. Blue Sky Luxury Living therefore focuses on the producer and current harvest rather than treating the oil as an identical product year after year.
Subscriptions
Umbrian Gold currently offers subscription options on both its standard bottle and Chef’s Tin. Subscription pricing and delivery schedules can change, so review the current terms carefully before choosing a recurring order.
Shipping
Umbrian Gold’s current direct-store fulfillment is limited to the continental United States. The company asks customers who need shipping elsewhere, including non-contiguous U.S. destinations, to contact it directly to discuss availability.
Shopping Information
Harvests, formats, prices, subscriptions and availability can change throughout the year, so Blue Sky Luxury Living does not display one fixed Umbrian Gold price. Review the current vintage, bottle size, subscription terms, shipping availability and storage recommendations directly with Umbrian Gold before ordering.
